British subject, Thomas ARMFIELD, born in Birmingham (Warwickshire, England), come from the steel world (raison of his travel to France) and he has work for the textiles mechanisms (sometimes associated with the Cockerill's). His three children among five, Mary, Sensitive and William was active in the textile at Paris, Loches (Indre-et-Loire, France), Vire (Calvados, France) and in the Mayenne (France).
In 1806, Thomas ARMFIELD and an French man of Tourraine, Jean Pierre, said Pierre HOREM bought the Cistercian abbey of Fontaine-Daniel (commune of Saint-Georges-Buttavent, Mayenne, France), and install a spinning mill.
En 1814, Louise Sensitive ARMFIELD, daughter of Thomas ARMFIELD, marry his father's associate, Jean Pierre HOREM. His brother, William ARMFIELD, marry Mary JONES in 1826 and the oldest sister of this last person, Martha JONES, marry Laurence CHARLESSON en 1815.
